Personal Improvement

Maybe one of the most profitable things you can do for yourself  throughout your living.

And one of the best investments of both time and energy that will return satisfactions and accomplishments to you.

Why develop and improve yourself? Why put personal development among our top priorities?

Just picture this: staying at the same level of development would be not just boring, but inevitably lead to routine, automatism and even slipping into mediocrity. Changing, in this case in a positive way, will not only be beneficial, but will also help you tick off the stages in your life more successfully. As Winston Churchill put it, To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

It’s like embarking on a quest. Every step you take is new, unknown, maybe even risky.

You may feel unsecure for not having a map and/or certification of warranty. Yet, there are some important guidelines for you to take in this journey: books, psychologists (which, unlike friends, be it the best ones, see you objectively), documentaries and movies, live conferences held by professionals. Last, but not least, the most important fellows – determination and stubborness.

Establish the points you want to develop. For example skills, attitudes, the way you act and react and so on. The important fields of development are: physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual.

You may see the process as unwrapping a gift or decorating a cake.  We’d might say that sometimes this is so strong a need it might be added to Maslow’s famous pyramid: food, sleep and sex.

Being personal, you don’t have to force yourself into a certain rhythm or pattern. It’s your own self that feels which tempo should adopt and what are the moves that suit it best.

This unceasing process will reveal its seeds as you continue to dig deeper and deeper.

It’s like having a rough diamond and you want to process it. You have to patiently cut it, facet it, establish the angles you want to get and polish it so in the end it can actually bedazzle you.

For sure it won’t help you gathering counterfeit pieces for your puzzle, but patiently and constantly keeping yourself focused and working on your genuine stone will pay you the greatest reward. It might not be a comfortable process, but the level of comfort you’ll reach as you lay brick after brick, will undoubtedly beat up the bare comfort of doing nothing.

Just mind your own parcel, don’t poke your nose into thy neighbour’s one; if you happen to do it, at least have some constructive purpose. Adjust things you like at them according to your peculiarities and style. Be your own tailor!

This personal and inner growth will help you more than any other material possessions you’ll get and which will remain exterior, no matter what. It will be like a bud blossoming within you and fulfilling you with love, wisdom and anything you’ll wish for. To put it short, you’ll have constant high quality fuel to steer your dreams!

Know your goals, have some guidelines and keep digging.

“It’s so important to make someone happy. Start with yourself.”

Victim or Victor by Jan Payne

Jan Payne’s Victim or Victor is as helpful as it is insightful.  Forged over a decade of practice as a life coach, Payne offers a succinct choice: Choose to win or to lose; the decision is in your hands.

The book’s subtitle really says it all:  You always have a choice.  You can see yourself as a victim of circumstance, at the mercy of other peoples’ actions, or you can chart your own course in life, making a conscious decision to set a more positive and, ultimately, happier course.  You can opt for victory over negativism, doubt, cynicism and the despair that is the inevitable product of these mindsets.

The ‘Aha!” moments come early in the book and continue throughout,  making Victim or Victor a useful read.

Pineal Gland & Third Eye: Develop Your Higher Self by Dr. Jill Ammon-Wexler

Across centuries and cultures, humankind has believed that something more – a gateway to greater insight and understanding – lays dormant inside them. For most of us, it doesn’t go much further than an idea or aspiration to access a higher self. Others find the key to unlocking that secret gateway to achieve greater self-awareness and attain new abilities, including psychic ability.

In “Pineal Gland and Third Eye: Develop Your Higher Self”, Dr. Jill Ammon-Wexler links the `third-eye’ phenomenon to the pineal gland – the pea-sized gland in the middle of the brain. She provides methods used to unlock the secrets of the pineal gland, step inside your brain and understand your motivation until the moment when your third eye opens for the first time, and with it opens new worlds of understanding.

Do the Work– Steven Pressfield

Steven Pressfield’s book introduces us to the concept of Resistance, an inner force that prevents us from doing the things we want to do and from accomplishing anything. The author wants to show us that our brain is our biggest enemy that prevents us from starting or finishing a project, whatever its nature might be. If we start reasoning, we’ll start questioning ourselves, we’ll start finding excuses and reasons why we can’t or shouldn’t do what we know we need to do.  In order to succeed, you have to do the work. In order to achieve those fulfilling results, you need to stick your hands in the mud first and do the actual work. “Do the Work” is generally appreciated as a short, witty, clever, to the point, and motivational book that will only take one or two hours of your time, but that might come with a huge impact on your motivation.

Life Lessons

Value: Always Stick to It!

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids

on a merry-go-round

Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down

Don’t dance so fast

Time is short

The music won’t last

Do you run through each day

on the fly

When you ask “How are you?”

do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,

do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores

running through your head?
You’d better slow down

Don’t dance so fast

Time is short

The music won’t last

Ever told your child,

We’ll do it tomorrow

And in your haste,

not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,

Let a good friendship die

‘Cause you never had time

to call and say “Hi”?

You’d better slow down

Don’t dance so fast

Time is short

The music won’t last

When you run so fast to get somewhere

You miss half of the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift…

Thrown away…

Life is not a race.

Do take it slower

Hear the music

Before the song is over.
