Games

Computer games, console games, board games…they all have such a nice purpose and that is to make us relax, have fun alone or with a bunch of friends. They make us escape into another world, give us the wonderful feeling of being a child. Personally, I so so love it when I see on a game mentioned that it can be played by 4-99 years old players!

Like movies, games can make you feel different emotions, you have the feeling you fight, laugh, cry, die for real. Besides the fact they are relaxing, they provide adrenaline, send shivers down your spine, enrich your imagination.

I asked for the opinion of 3 gameaholics (they play mainly computer games) who shared their thoughts with us.

“For me, games are one of my favourite pastime. Besides the fun I get from playing, I also develop many skills: attention (for detail and for the whole picture), memory, reflexes, eye-hand coordination, team-playing, visual acuity, patience, commitment. I also develop my imagination, enrich my creativity, I can see a problem from more and different angles. Coming across new and unexpected situations helps me to cultivate my time and stress management skills.

“Games – oh such a nice hobby of mine! In a way, they are a kind of meditation for me, after a full day at the office! :))) I like that I have the chance to experience, to test all kind of stuff. I like having the possibility to adopt different strategies, or to mix them.  It’s also a good way of socializing with friends, whenever I have the chance to go for multiple player games. Moreover, I appreciate the graphics, the features (both physic and moral) given to characters, the sounds and music. Anyway, kudos for the invention of games – be them computer related or hide-and-seek.”

“What’s in a game? to paraphrase great Will Shakespeare, “That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Besides pure mood of relaxation, games offer me a realm of infinite possibilities as to grow my logic, creativity, skills and emotions. It helps me balance the analyze in the left brain with the visual and freedom in the right one. It feels so good to continue playing games in my 30’s, often it’s even better than as a kid. Keep on playing!”
