Why develop and improve yourself? Why put personal development among our top priorities?

Just picture this: staying at the same level of development would be not just boring, but inevitably lead to routine, automatism and even slipping into mediocrity. Changing, in this case in a positive way, will not only be beneficial, but will also help you tick off the stages in your life more successfully. As Winston Churchill put it, To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

It’s like embarking on a quest. Every step you take is new, unknown, maybe even risky. You may feel unsecure for not having a map and/or certification of warranty. Yet, there are some important guidelines for you to take in this journey: books, psychologists (which, unlike friends, be it the best ones, see you objectively), documentaries and movies, live conferences held by professionals. Last, but not least, the most important fellows – determination and stubborness.

Establish the points you want to develop. For example skills, attitudes, the way you act and react and so on. The important fields of development are: physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual.

You may see the process as unwrapping a gift or decorating a cake.  We’d might say that sometimes this is so strong a need it might be added to Maslow’s famous pyramid: food, sleep and sex.

Being personal, you don’t have to force yourself into a certain rhythm or pattern. It’s your own self that feels which tempo should adopt and what are the moves that suit it best.

This unceasing process will reveal its seeds as you continue to dig deeper and deeper. It’s like having a rough diamond and you want to process it. You have to patiently cut it, facet it, establish the angles you want to get and polish it so in the end it can actually bedazzle you.

For sure it won’t help you gathering counterfeit pieces for your puzzle, but patiently and constantly keeping yourself focused and working on your genuine stone will pay you the greatest reward. It might not be a comfortable process, but the level of comfort you’ll reach as you lay brick after brick, will undoubtedly beat up the bare comfort of doing nothing.

A thing I liked a lot was the “love tank”. It concerns our emotional state and how full of love we are. A full love tank provides us full freedom and maximum productivity in our life.

The best communication is based on learning each other’s love language. There are cases when a person can be bi-lingual, meaning, two love languages have the same importance for them.
